New Pathways

ABOUT ME

Dr Katharyn Mumby

I am the Founder and Director of New Pathways. My extensive experience in NHS, academic, and charitable settings is at the heart of my clinical work, teaching and research. You can expect a high-quality evidence-based service, respectful of your needs.

I provide online Speech and Language Therapy for adults with communication difficulties, based on a wide range of knowledge and expertise, including support for carers and other professionals. I work holistically, so I combine impairment-based approaches with person-centred goal setting.

I have a PhD in communication after stroke (focusing on aphasia and apraxia of speech), and a Masters qualification in dysphagia (swallowing problems). My therapy is based on a long clinical career, breadth of experience and a special interest in acquired neurological conditions, which has been the focus of my research and commitment. I am a Visiting Honorary Research Fellow at Health Sciences University, UK. My current research is extending the knowledge of the role of communication in spirituality, including finding meaning and purpose in the context of communication impairments.
